Daniel Merriweather Has Something Here

It took all of about 2 seconds into the track "Change" to realize that Daniel Merriweather has something with his latest release. You might be thinking... Yeah, I've known that for awhile. The album Love & War did come out last June.

So why am I talking about a song that's 3 months old??? Well, the first reason is because the track "Change" is that good. The second, is because "Change" actually got me thinking about how quickly you can tell when you like or don't like a song. As I mentioned, it took all of about 2 seconds to know I liked "Change" (the song that is). Have a listen and you'll notice that jammed into those first two second is an amazing beat and a methodical piano loop that will continue throughout.

I read on Merriweather's MySpace that he, "learned to play by ear without reading music". Maybe we've all learned the type of sounds we like, and we know if enough of these sounds are put together it will make for a great song. I guess it's just funny how we can know this in only a couple of seconds.

Mackintosh Braun is on the edge

If last night on BumpireTV was your first time hearing Mackintosh Braun prepare to hear more (and I'm not talking about this post). If any artist is on the edge of hitting the big time it's got to be Mackintosh Braun. The ingredients: great beats, lyrics that matter, a new debut album, and oh yeah, a song featured on Mtv's The Real World Cancun.

Pick any one of the 10 songs on the recently released The Sound and we think you'll agree, Mackintosh Braun has the kind of sound that leaves you anxious to hear what's next. If you're in the Portland area check them out live, and if not pick up The Sound from iTunes or Amazon and party in your livingroom.

Bumpire is celebrating!!!!

Last night at 12 midnight marked the much anticipated launch of BumpireTV. It was a solid 1 hour and 16 minute block of today's best underground music. Based on the response from our viewers, two of the favorites seem to be Mackintosh Braun with "Good So far" and Dakotafish with "Landlocked". Thank you to all of the featured artists and all of the viewers. See you back at BumpireTV next Wednesday.
